Why I’m Posting This After Christmas...

At a New Year’s Eve party, a group of us were talking about our kids—who’s naturally organized, who definitely is not, and how some kids seem to come out of the womb color-coding things.

Someone jokingly asked if my daughter got her organization skills from me.

I laughed and said,
“Absolutely not. I’m not that organized… except when it comes to my Christmas present system.”

That stopped the conversation.

I explained how I track every Christmas gift—who it’s for, how much I spent, where I bought it, whether it’s wrapped, who it is from (Mom and Dad or SC) and where it’s hidden—using a simple spreadsheet.

Immediately the questions started: "Wait, you track all of that?" "Ohhhh, can you share that?"

So I went home and turned my very practical (but very boring) Excel system into a clean, digital Christmas present organizer template using Canva—same system, just much prettier and maybe easier to use.

Why January Is the Best Time to Organize for Christmas

Most people don’t think about Christmas gift planning until November—when stress, overspending, and last-minute shopping kick in.

January is different.

Right now:

• You’re not rushed or overwhelmed

• I do recommend saving each year's template- It is a nice reference to look back at and fun too. It is amazing how much I forget from year to year.

• Print it if you want (totally optional- I know some like to physically write on it but I fear one of my children will find it and the Christmas magic might slip away)
